Guide to Cross Currency and Partial Releases

Sent the wrong amount, or paid in the wrong currency? In supported cases the escrow releases USDC in proportion to what you actually paid, instead of failing the order outright. Wrong-currency payments also carry a small penalty to cover the seller's conversion fees.

I've sent the wrong amount — what can I expect?​

If you underpay, you receive proportionally less USDC:

  1. Create an order of $10 for 10 USDC
  2. Send $9 instead of $10 (90% of the expected payment)
  3. 10 USDC × 90% = 9 USDC
  4. You receive 9 USDC

I've sent the wrong currency — what can I expect?​

This applies on multi-currency platforms like Wise, where it's easy to pay from the wrong balance. Your payment is converted to the order's currency at current rates, released proportionally, and a small penalty covers the seller's conversion fees:

  1. Create an order of €10 for 11.6 USDC
  2. Send $10 (USD) instead of €10 (EUR)
  3. The system converts $10 to its EUR equivalent (approximately €9.25 at current rates)
  4. Proportion: €9.25 / €10 = 92.5% of the expected payment
  5. 11.6 USDC × 92.5% = 10.73 USDC, minus the small penalty fee
  6. You receive your USDC and can continue on-chain
